Who can actually pass up a great deal on flights? Ireland was a beautiful break from the business of photographing weddings and answering emails. From meeting a bride and groom in the airport on their way to their Dublin destination wedding, to crossing paths with a set of sisters from Minnesota traveling to Ireland as well, this trip was meant to be. Sleepy coastal villages and sheep upon sheep upon sheep, green as far as the eye can see, and overgrown 6th century cemetery churches that are what dreams are made of. This blog doesn’t do justice to the trip we had and the sights we saw, but hopefully it sets the tone for the story of our trip and the beauty we saw.Read More
One of my favorite subjects to photograph is dancers, and one of my favorite things to do is travel. Combining the two was a dream come true. Ireland offered a backdrop that Minnesota can’t offer, and it stretched me in all the best ways. Who wouldn’t want a session at the Cliffs of Moher now? I wish I could go back tomorrow.Read More
Being in the wedding industry, I’ve been around the block a time or two and I have created my own lists of favorites when it comes to wedding vendors! As we approach wedding planning season, I’ve been getting asked by brides and grooms what my favorite venues are in and around theRead More
Holy wow. What a year. I started it working for “the man” and ended its working for myself and thriving. This year was full of “firsts” and hopefully “lasts” as well. What did you year look like? Mine looked like this:Read More
In the past 5 years or so, there has been a shift in the photo industry. Photography began with posing - out of necessity - and has begun to shift towards prompted photos, filled with movement and emotion. This shift was birthed, because our…Read More
You don’t pass up $500 flights to France, so in August I bought my tickets and started getting excited for my trip across the pond to visit mostly France and a little bit of Switzerland. My trip this year included flying into Lyon (mostly just as a…Read More

Guys, I live for summer. I have a special place in my heart for MN winters only because I grew up here. I wouldn't be able to easily live somewhere without all four seasons, but man.... summer gives me energy to do the rest of the year...Read More
What do you do to celebrate a year? This year I went through all the photos I took in 2017 and re-lived all of the stories I was invited to tell. I looked through weddings, engagements, all my Story Sessions, and threw in…Read More
The Great Lakes don't get enough credit. There are so many beautiful places on Lake Superior alone and it seems Daniel has made it a point to see all of them. We took a weekend trip up north of Duluth for a Spring getaway and…Read More
This year, Stillwater, MN hosted a winter Ice Castles and Daniel and I visited as a birthday celebration of sorts. Though underwhelming in some aspects, the Ice Castles made for fun photo opportunities and a certainly entraining evening…Read More

I call many places home. I grew up and returned to Minnesota. My family is there, and my memories are there. Minnesota is familiar and I'm content there. Illinois holds my friends, also viewed as family. I'd call Becca Martin's home my home, Judson University still feels like my home, and I will always welcome places like Chicago with open arms. But Switzerland is a different kind of home. When I visit…Read More
Things I've learned in Uganda so far:
- The areas I've visited of Uganda are so humble. Its a lesson in what to be grateful for.
- Driving is crazy. Everybody driving everywhere, not coloring in the lines. They also drive on the left side of the road and it throws me off everyday. And motorcyclists are seriously good at maneuvering through tiny spaces.
-Its nearly impossible to cross the street without fear.
On my own, I never would have found this place: past that one street, off the beaten trail, under a hole in the fence, and through a stream. Daniel makes me more creative and more adventurous. He has this crazy ability to find things that hardly…Read More
